It’s hard being on the cutting edge of art using industrial facilities.
It’s not a tried and tested combination.
We work with industrial factories that have the heavy equipment needed to laser cut stainless steel.
I wish we used a small machine that you can have at home, but we can’t.
They use their machines to manufacture massive industrial orders for big companies.
The products they manufacture are often big and bulky and generally go from them to another factory that paints or polishes it to get the finish right so they dont have to be too careful about scratches.
Normally the metal is used in outside areas will be painted and the finishes dont make such a difference.
And here we come…,
A boutique fine metal art studio that wants the most delicate cuts with no burn marks, scratches or dents.
The factories do not like us very much.
They try to do their best. And we try to provide them with the most detailed specs and requirements to get it right, multiple times.
But as much as we try we have to accept the reality.
That the uniqueness and delicateness of this type of art, together with our high demands of quality means that we have to take into account we will have 2nds that we cannot sell.
And I cant say that its not frustrating, but we are working it into our model without giving up on our standards.
And continue looking out for better and better suppliers and techniques.
(Let us know if you have anyone in Israel we should check out :-) … )
The result is so fantastic that its worth all the effort to get these beautiful modern Jewish artworks up on the walls of Jewish homes.
Have you seen one in real yet? They are simply stunning.
