Rav Ovadia Yosef Metal Portrait

3,000NIS

Dimensions: 46 x 46 cm | 18 x 18"
Materials: Stainless Steel and Acrylic

This framed artwork of Rav Ovadia Yosef is rendered in laser cut stainless steel on a background of black acrylic.

The metal portrait takes on the form of an attractive semi-abstract, modern painting where positive and negative spaces are well thought out and completely in balance. In an attempt to decode the form and to understand it’s meaning, the viewer is drawn closer to the work.

Rav Ovadia Yosef was an Iraqi-born Talmudic scholar, a posek, the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel from 1973 to 1983, and a founder and long-time spiritual leader of Israel’s ultra-Orthodox Shas party.

This framed artwork of Maran Ovadia Yosef is rendered in laser cut stainless steel on a background of black acrylic combining the grace and elegance of modern design with the essence of Torah values.

Rav Ovadia Yosef (רב עובדיה יוסף) was born in Bagdad, Iraq in 1920.

In 1924 his family emigrated to Eretz Yisroel where he joined Yeshivat Porat Yosef at the age of 13 together with Rav Ben Zion Abba Shaul, quickly standing out for his passion and ability in learning Torah.

He is known for his many sefarim, notably his multi-volume work – Yabia Omer, containing halachic responsa in many areas of Jewish life. In 1973 he was appointed as Rishon LeZion (Sefardi Chief Rabbi). In 1984 he founded the Sefardi-religious political party Shas, which he led until his passing in 2013.
